Inside mount — adequate depth
Measure width at top, middle, and bottom. Order the narrowest reading. Confirm ~1" clear depth for the headrail.

When returns are thin or trim eats depth, outside-mount on flat casing with overlap on each side.
After water exposure

Usually as multiple blinds, not one continuous headrail. For a single clean span, roller shades are the better tool.
