For width, measure in three places: top, middle, and bottom. For height, measure left, center, and right. Don't forget to measure depth as well. Use the narrowest width, longest height, and shallowest depth for inside mounts.
All you need is a steel measuring tape, pencil, and paper to record your measurements.
